Many artists are offended if you start talking to them about the colour scheme of your home and whether their art may fit in. Their reaction is based on the belief that art is somehow a rarefied thing that has nothing to do with decorating choices.
But I’m not one of those artists. I believe art should match your sofa if you want it to. Or not. The choice is yours. Personally, I believe if you buy what you love for your home, it will inevitably fit together, because it’s all come from your taste and reflects who you are.
In fact, I love nothing better than chatting to people about colour schemes – what colours they love and what colours would work in a piece of artwork to best complement the colours they already have in their home.
